Modena Jeffers Sandy's Obituary
Modena Jeffers Sandy, 87, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Heartland Manor, Casey, Illinois. She was born December 17, 1920 in Martinsville, Illinois, the daughter of Leland Jeffers and Mollie Wilson Jeffers. On January 12, 1943 she married James Hubert Sandy in Marshall, Illinois. He passed away on March 29, 1989. Survivors include her sisters in law, Wanda Reid of Charleston, IL and Virginia Shawver of Charleston, IL and many nieces, nephews and special friends. Her parents, husband, Hubert Sandy; brothers in law, Vernon Sandy, Lewis Sandy, Otis Sandy, & Francis Sandy, Jr. and sister in law, Helen Renshaw preceded her in death. Modena was a homemaker, a member of the American Quilters Society in Paducah, KY and a member of I.O.O.F. She was a Past Noble Grand of the Kedar Rebekah Lodge #153. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, IL with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations or contributions may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, 700 Broadway Avenue East, Suite 9, Mattoon, IL 61938.
