Mildred Marjorie Neimeyer Slusser's Obituary
Mildred Marjorie Neimeyer Slusser, 99, of rural Casey, IL and Tucson, AZ passed away at 7:30 PM, Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Tucson Medical Center. She was born on December 6, 1911 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of John Edward Neimeyer and Ursa Pierce Neimeyer. She married James Harlan Slusser on October 26, 1935 in Toledo, IL. He preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1990. She is survived by her son, John P. Slusser, Sr. and wife Shirley Malcom Slusser of Tucson, AZ, grandson, John P. Slusser, Jr. of rural Casey, granddaughter, Susan Marie Bedore and husband Brett of Linch, WY, seven great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren and one great-great step-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Catherine Neimeyer Frietsch and husband Carl, infant son, James Clark Slusser, grandson, James Andrew Slusser and great grandson, John Christopher Slusser. Mildred was one of 48 first cousins and survived them all. Mildred's father passed away when she was four years old and she was raised in part by her grandparents, Clark and Elizabeth Pierce of Tolono, IL. From the age of 10, she lived with her mother west of Hazel Dell, IL. She worked in Greenup, Champaign and Terre Haute. She lived in Peoria until 1946 when she and her husband moved to rural Casey where she became a farm wife. She was a loving wife, a wonderful Mom and worked hard all of her life. Services will be held at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010 with visitation from noon until the 2:00 p.m. service time. Burial will be in the Slusser Cemetery south of Casey. Memorial tributes and condolences may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
