Mildred "Irene" Hollensbe's Obituary
Mildred Irene Hollensbe, 96, of Greenup, IL passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 at Heartland Manor Nursing Center in Casey, IL. She was born March 5, 1915, in Marshall, IL, the daughter of Aaron E. Hawker and Edna Pearl Kelly Hawker. Irene married Max D. Hollensbe on April 13, 1944 in Enid, OK. He passed away on July 1, 1964. Survivors include her daughter, Donna Nash of Greenup, IL; grandson, Terry Nash and wife Diana of Greenup, IL; granddaughter, Dianna Berry and husband Neil of Clermont, FL; sister, Grace McFarling and husband Robert of Indianapolis, IN; four great grandchildren, Jamie (Sam) Smith of Westfield, IN, Chris (Brandy) Nash of Greenup, IL and Kyle and Hannah Berry of Clermont, FL; great great grandson, Drew Smith . She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Carolyn Orand. Irene was the first beautician in Hazel Dell and was a member of the Hazel Dell Church of God where she was Sunday School secretary and teacher for many years. She was the lifetime secretary and treasurer of W.C.S.C., a member of the Cumberland Co. Farm Bureau Women's Committee and had an avid interest in the history of Hazel Dell and its genealogy. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Larry Hollensbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Hazel Dell South Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to Heartland Manor Nursing Center, 410 NW Third St., Casey, IL 62420.
