Mildred L Claypool's Obituary
Mildred L. Claypool, of rural Clark County, age 98, died on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was born to Nimrod and Ada Kemper Glatthaar on January 11, 1911 in Edgar County, Illinois. She married Kenneth Claypool who preceded her in death in 1953. Mildred attended Illinois Teachers College and began her teaching career in Edgar County in one room schools. She ended her teaching career when her husband died and settled down to a life of farming in Clark County. Mildred is survived by three sons, Gary of Marshall, IL, Kent and Denise of Martinsville, IL and Larry and Vicky of Casey, IL; brother, Richard Glatthaar of Paris, IL; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Ronald and Doran Claypool, two sisters, Helen Schwartz and Clotile Redmon and daughter in law, Judy Claypool. Mildred was a very active person, having a great love of nature. She greatly enjoyed walking through the woods and hunting mushrooms. She also loved gardening and exhibited many of her flowers as well as pies and candies at the various local county fairs in years past. She was proud of her many blue ribbons. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with Rev. Larry Morecraft officiating. Burial will be in the Auburn Cemetery in Clark Center, IL. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
