Michael Charles "Mike" Schaefer of Casey, IL formerly of Effingham, IL passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 surrounded by his family at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 13, 1963 in Effingham IL, the son of Frederick C. Schaefer and Janice Marie Osborne Schaefer. Survivors include his parents, Fred and Jan Schaefer of Effingham IL; daughter, Kaitlyn Schaefer of Casey, IL; son; Austin Schaefer of Casey, IL; brothers, Gregory (Theresa) Schaefer of Bennett, CO; Tracy Schaefer of Martinsville, IL; Anthony (Jennifer) Schaefer of Ridgecrest, CA; Scott (Michelle) Schaefer of Sigel, IL; sisters, Cynthia (Mike) DePoister of Effingham IL and Lisa (Ed) Hobler of Effingham, IL; mother of his children, Carlene Schaefer of Casey, IL; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mike worked at Evapco in Greenup, IL. He was a member of the Effingham Men's Bowling Association and had been inducted in to the US Bowling Hall of Fame for bowling a perfect 300 game. He was an avid supporter of the Casey Westfield Football team. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Father Michael Haag officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
