Michael Scott Ellis' Obituary
Michael Scott Ellis, 27, of Charleston, IL, formerly of Casey, IL, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2009, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on January 17, 1982, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Michael Dean Ellis and Durinda Hickox Ellis. On June 7, 2008 he married Lindsey Nicole Yates in Casey, Illinois. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Lindsey Yates Ellis of Charleston, IL; parents, Mike and Durinda Ellis of Casey, IL; sister, Amanda Washburn and husband Chris of Evansville, IN; nephew and niece, Emory and Grace Washburn of Evansville, IN; grandparents, Gene and Thelma Ellis of Casey, IL; grandmother, Beverly Hickox of Casey, IL; father and mother in law, Randy and Cindy Yates of Casey, IL; sister in law, Kimberly Yates of Casey, IL; brother in law, Eric Yates of Casey, IL; uncles and aunts, Brad and Peggy Hickox, Randy and Lisa Hickox, Becky and Wes Ware, Paula and Mike Partlow and many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wendell Hickox. Scott was a member of the First Baptist Church in Casey, IL; the Alpha Sigma Lamda Academic Fraternity and the Casey Country Club. He was a graduate of Casey Westfield High School and Eastern Illinois University. Scott was employed as a Construction Project Estimator for Hannig Construction, Inc. in Terre Haute, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Casey, IL with Rev. Mark Copley, Rev. Tom Marsh and Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Church. Memorial donations and contributions will be set aside to honor Scott's wishes to "Pay it Forward" c/o Markwell Funeral Home, P.O. Box 175, Casey, IL 62420.
