Mary Ann Sherwood, 78, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:25 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Heartland Nursing Center in Casey, IL surrounded by her loving husband and children. She was born May 5, 1933, in Casey, IL, the daughter of Golden E. Cox and Mabel Coral Garrett Cox. On May 15, 1951, she married Darrell (Dean) Sherwood in Casey, IL. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Darrell (Dean) Sherwood of Casey, IL; son, Greg Sherwood and wife Linda of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Carol Brown and husband Phillip of Casey, IL; daughter, Karen Shull of Terre Haute, IN; daughter, Sharen Wright and husband Tony of Greenwood, IN brother, Ron Cox and wife Edie of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Monica McNeil, Wendy Navel, Monica Freeman, Kristy Duniphan, Amy Nava, Erika Shull, Colby Shull, Miranda Hammond, Melaina Lane and twenty-two great grandchildren. She was preceded her in death by her parents. Mary Ann was a loving housewife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Casey First Baptist Church and also attended the Word of Life Church in Casey, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, 700 Broadway Ave. E., Suite 7, Mattoon, IL 61938. Memorial tributes may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
