Mary Elizabeth Green's Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Green, 99, of Casey, IL passed away at 1:34 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born May 11, 1916 in Oblong, IL the daughter of Charles Heck and Louella Roberts Heck. On September 5, 1934 she married William Henry Green in Newton, IL. He passed away on April 15, 1970. Survivors include her son, James Green and wife Patricia of Salem, MO; daughter, Irene Waller and husband Vern of Casey, IL; daughter in law, Rita Green of Indianapolis, IN; son in law, George Burkhardt of Joliet, IL; sister in law, Leah Heck of Oblong, IL; twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Charles; son, Richard Green; daughter, Daisy Burkhardt; brothers, Cecil Heck, Roy Heck, Ray Heck and Harold Heck; sisters, Lucille Heck, Escoe Hatton; her twin sister, Martha Petty and son in law, Don Lee. Mary worked at the West End Café and at the Casey Shoe Factory for over 30 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Casey, IL. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidery. Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. She loved to bake cookies and pies. Mary was fondly known by her children as "Magnificent Mama". Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
