Mary Rose Finley's Obituary
Mary Rose Finley, 85, of Westfield, Illinois passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana. She was born September 5, 1922 in Marshall, Illinois the daughter of Patrick Curran and Mary "Mae" Ann Elizabeth Sharkey Curran. On June 1, 1940 she married Harold Wayne Finley in Paris, Illinois; he passed away on May 30, 2003. Survivors include daughter, Anita R. Cheesman and husband Jim of Terre Haute, IN; sons, Gene Finley and wife Bonnie of Terre Haute, IN and Thomas Lee Finley and wife Ruth Ann of Greenup, IL; grandchildren, Mike Cheesman, Daniel Finley, Kristopher Finley, Jeffrey Finley, Kate Finley, Sherry Fisher and Mary Beth Chaney, who all are proudly serving as her pallbearers; seven great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, infant son and brothers, Lawrence P. Curran and Francis T. Curran preceded her in death. Mrs. Finley was a 1940 graduate of Marshall High School. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm and was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall, Illinois. Her children and grandchildren will fondly remember her for her famous "Light Rolls" and her "Breakfast Griddle Cakes." Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Markwell Chapel in Westfield, Illinois with Father Mike Haag officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the service time on Saturday at the Markwell Chapel in Westfield, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
