She was preceded by her parents, husband, Harry, twin sister, Eloise Burkybile, and brothers, John, Edgar and Warren Cole and son-in-law, Gary Queen. Louise's generosity, compassion and unselfishness made her an unforgettable friend. She loved people and built friendships easily. She kept friends for life. She touched lives in so many ways. She baked cookies in double batches so she had plenty to share. Grandchildren knew they could bring their cooky tin back for refills. She even mailed cookies to grandkids in college. All were welcome in her home and at her table; it didn't bother her to have extra unexpected guests. She loved family and family dinners were a joy for her. Louise loved and prayed for everyone. If she knew you, odds are you were prayed for. She read aloud the Upper Room every morning and said a beautiful prayer asking God's blessing on a long list of names, and, just to be sure she concluded with "and bless all those we should pray for". Louise was a charter member of the Clark County Homemaker's Extension. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She nurtured the young people in her group as they struggled and learned from their projects. Her children and their 4-H projects were a source of pride for her. Her daughter, Mary Ann, also participated in the International Farm Youth Exchange and spent 6 weeks in Italy with a farm family. Louise was a hospice volunteer for many years. She may have sold you an amaryllis when they did that as a fund-raiser or maybe she asked you for a donation for the Festival of Trees at Sara Bush Lincoln Health Center. The International Thanksgiving Fellowship gave the Burkybile families lasting memories as they hosted foreign students from many countries. Mrs. Gertrude Trogdon of Paris, IL created the program to give students a chance to get out of college dorm rooms and spend the Thanksgiving holidays in homes of families. Louise was a member of the Casey United Methodist Church. Her respect and appreciation for missionaries led her to keep in touch with missionaries in several countries, supporting them with letters and donations. She enjoyed her many years in the United Methodist Women's organization. She served as President for many years, participated in the School of Missions, and the UMW Reading Program. She enjoyed making small crafts, selling them and sending the money to missionaries.
