Mary E Bare's Obituary
Mary Bare, 85 of Indianapolis, IN formerly of Westfield, Casey, Effingham, IL, Covington, IN and Lakeland, FL passed away at 3:21 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at The Heart Hospital of Indiana. She was born on December 24, 1920 in Westfield, IL to Donovan Rider and Melissa Briscoe Rider. On May 2, 1943 in Westfield, IL she married Lucian Bare. He passed away on April 24, 2001. Survivors include son, Don Bare and wife Pam of Carmel, IN; daughter, Susan Sherwood and husband Bruce of Goodyear, AZ; sister, Elizabeth Rider - Miller and husband Bill of Gainesville, FL; sister-in-law, Carolyn Fuson of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Erin Merrill and husband Jason of Noblesville, IN, Kyle Bare of Fishers, IN, Amy Reever and husband Randy of Plainfield, IN, and Christopher Sherwood of Indianapolis, IN; great granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Merrill and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, William E. Rider. Mrs. Bare was a retired school teacher having taught 6th through 12th grades, her favorite being High School English. She coached girls basketball through the G.A.A. program in Westfield, IL. She was Past President of the Illinois Junior High School Teacher's Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, FL. She was a Church Youth Choir Director for various Churches. She participated in the Casey Community Park Grandstand Band and directed Community Theater in Covington, IN and Westfield, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at the Casey United Methodist Church in Casey, IL with Rev. Dan Smith and Dr. Penelope Barber officiating. Visitation will be on Monday evening 4 - 7 p.m. at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL. Memorial Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Lakeland, FL. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In leiu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2027 S. Main St., Suite #3, Bloomington, IL 61704.
