Marshall O Hill's Obituary
Marshall O. Hill, Jr., 93, of Martinsville, IL and formerly of Bloomingdale, IN passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at his home in Martinsville, IL with family members present. He was born June 4, 1917, the son of Marshall J. Hill, Sr. and Emma LaFond in Martinton, IL. On March 3, 1941, he married Marie W. Elliott in Marshall, IL. She passed away on November 14, 2007. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Kathryn Hill Sowers of Martinsville, IL; 6 grandchildren, Lori Sowers, Mike Sowers, Sandra Asher, Danny Sowers, Darla Wirth and Shelli Hill; 16 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marie W. Hill, daughter, Emma Lou Wirth, grandson, Roger Dale Wirth, 4 brothers, Oneil, Leroy, Lavern and Calvin Hill, 5 sisters, Dolly Ketner, Evelyn King, Precilla Shepherd, Kitty Griffin, Mickey Lawson. Mr. Hill was a retired construction worker and farmer. Marshall received a Purple Heart while serving in the US Army during WWII. He was a member of the Marshall American Legion. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. (CST) on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the Bloomingdale Friends Cemetery, Bloomingdale, IN with Bro. Don Perry officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Rockville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to any veterans association. Memorial tributes and condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenwellfh.com.
