Marsha Louise"Marty" Brown's Obituary
Marsha "Marty" Louise Brown, age 70, of Casey, IL passed away peacefully December 10, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. She was born April 8, 1952, in Terre Haute, IN the daughter of Harlan Hutchens, Jr. and Betty Annetta Alvey Hutchens. On June 17, 1972, she married Samuel Brown of Marshall, IL at the St. Charles Borromeo Church in Casey, IL. The couple have resided in Marshall, IL, Yorkville, IL, Moonshine, IL and in Casey, IL.
Marty was a 1970 graduate of Martinsville High School, Martinsville, IL and continued her education attending Ivy Tech College, Terre Haute, IN where she earned her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Marty utilized her credentials and caring nature at Heartland Nursing Center for twenty-plus years.
Marty enjoyed causing mischief with her fellow nursing friends Mary Zachary and Toni Baird (plus a few others) and developing special bonds with the residents. She finished out her nursing career with ten-plus years of patient care at Sarah Bush Lincoln - Casey Clinic. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards with family/friends, visiting with her grandkids, and watching television. She also enjoyed spending time or causing trouble with her dear friends Joyce Bishop, Lora Vickroy and Judy Wilson. She enjoyed assisting Joyce with the Arts Hall during the Martinsville Agricultural Fair for several years.
Marty rarely missed attending functions her grandkids were involved in, especially sports, plays, and concerts. Having the family over for her pool parties was one of her favorite gatherings.
Christmas was always a big celebration for Marty. It was almost always a trend for her to finish up wrapping presents in the wee hours of Christmas morning, finally make it to bed to have 3-4 kids come screaming in her room "It 's Christmas! Get up!". She would beg for a few hours of sleep and bribe the kids with stockings so get that much needed rest. It seems fitting that Marty will get to spend this Christmas with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and her loved ones who have gone before her.
Marty was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church of Casey, IL.
