Marion Snider's Obituary
Marion Snider, 79, Flat Rock, IL passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN following an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1926 in Birds, IL the son of Austin and Beatrice Mickey Snider. He retired from Marathon Oil Co. in 1985. He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Flat Rock, served in the United States Navy during World War II, was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, Flat Rock Masonic Lodge #348, Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, Ainad Shrine East St. Louis and Scottish Rite of Danville, IL. He is survived by his wife, Laura Jane (Sinclair) Snider, whom he married October 9, 1948; his daughter and son in law, Sherri and Tony Butcher of Casey, IL; granddaughters, LeeAnn Butcher and Lara Butcher of Casey, IL; brother, Charles Snider of Flat Rock, IL; 3 sisters and brothers in law, Marie Lawrence of Flat Rock, IL, Ruby and Larry Myer of Robinson, IL, and Marjorie and Bill Thompson of Columbia, TN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Maude Snider; granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Butcher; and brother, Max Snider. Funeral Services will be at 10 am Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the First Missionary Baptist Church, Flat Rock, IL with Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL with Military Rites by the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, AmVets Post #33, Robinson American Legion #69 and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 pm on Friday, April 7 at the Church. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
