Margaret Barnett's Obituary
Margaret Barnett, 94, passed away at 10:35 a.m. on October 15, 2009, at Richland Care and Rehab in Olney. Margaret was born on October 2, 1915 to Bonnie Barkley Welker and Mahlon Welker. Her mother, Bonnie, died 11 days after Margaret's birth and her father passed away when she was 12 years old. Margaret was raised by her grandmother, Elzina Barkley, and aunt, Faye Barkley Spencer, on the family farm. Margaret married Walter Woodrow Barnett on December 30, 1933. Margaret lived her entire life in the Hazel Dell community and worked on the family farm until her health failed. During her later years, Margaret enjoyed telephone conversations with her many relatives and friends she acquired during her life. Surviving is a son, Don Barnett and his wife, Christiana, of Olney, a granddaughter, Whitney A. Barnett, of Olney; cousins that she grew up with, Louella Spencer Huddlestun (Paul Wayne) and Maudlin Spencer Cook (David), both of the Hazel Dell area. Sisters, Evelyn Holsapple (Ralph) of Newton, Elizabeth Shull of Glendale, Arizona along with special second cousins Brad and Gary Huddlestun. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandmother, aunt and sister, Virginia Fogleman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey with the Reverend James Rue officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Burial will be at the Hazel Dell Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Casey Humane Society, P.O.
