Madylene Downey's Obituary
Madylene Downey, age 84, of Hammond, IN, formerly of Casey, died on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, IN. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at the Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville. Visitation was held on June 14, 2005 at the funeral home and burial was in the Washington Street Cemetery in Casey. She was born June 17, 1920 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Charles and Cecil Ann Simmons Downey. She was a graduate of Casey Township High School and had worked for over 50 years as a waitress in a restaurant in Chicago and had sold Avon products for over 30 years. Surviving are two daughters, Ellen Long and Catherine Cosentino, both of Hammond, IN, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
