Lucille Rardin Stewart's Obituary
Lucille R. Stewart, 96, of Champaign IL and formerly of Casey, IL passed away at 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL. She was born June 11, 1912 in Rardin, Illinois, the daughter of John Hall Rardin and Lillie Eve Brothers Rardin. On December 30, 1939 she married Leon Thomas Stewart. He passed away on August 29, 2002. Survivors include son, Jim Stewart and wife Cheryl of Champaign, IL (formerly of Neoga, IL); grandchildren, Brian Stewart of Rantoul, IL; Nicole Stewart of Edwardsville, IL (formerly of Neoga, IL) and Dr. Clint Jackson and wife Tiffany of Champaign, IL; great granddaughter, Mackenzie Jackson; nephew, Bill Mills and wife Elaine of Los Angeles, CA; niece, Ruth Mills of Casey, IL and great niece, Beth Arbogast of Casey, IL. Her parents, husband, son, Tom Stewart; daughter, Linda Stewart; two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Stewart was a retired teacher, she taught in the Butternut and Yoke Schools near Casey, IL and later 3rd grade at the Lottie Switzer School in Champaign, IL. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Champaign, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, served as an election judge and was an RSVP volunteer. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home in Casey, IL with Pastor Mark Smith of the Bement First United Methodist Church, Bement, IL. officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Crisis Nursery, 1309 W. Hill St., Urbana, IL. 61801. She always loved and enjoyed the company of babies & children. Memorial tributes and condolences may be sent to the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
