Louise Evelyn Shiels' Obituary
Louise Evelyn Shiels, 89, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Greenup, IL died at 12:10 p.m. Monday (Oct. 2, 2006) at the St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville, KY. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Markwell & Son Funeral Home in Casey. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born July 11, 1917 in Parker, S.D. to Sam Howard and Lydia Fick Howard Shipman. She married Fred Harrison Shiels on May 19, 1935; he died in 1986. Survivors include a son, Frederick "Arnie" Shiels of Louisville, Ky.; and a half sister, Iola Kitchen of Ft. Worth, Texas; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother. Mrs. Shiels worked over 20 years as a proof-reader at the American Legion National Headquarters in the magazine department in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Southside Seventh Day Adventist Church in Louisville, KY where she was a supporter of the "Pathfinders Youth Group."
