Lois Fay Sidwell's Obituary
Lois Fay Sidwell, 85, of Decatur, IL passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Funeral services will conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Oakley presiding. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery near Casey, IL. Lois was born at home on the farm near Casey, IL on February 20, 1930 to Eli Roscoe and Opal Howe Sidwell. She graduated from Casey High School, Decatur Memorial School of Nursing and earned her B.S. degree from the University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL. She worked all her life as a nurse in doctors' offices and later for the State of Illinois. Lois grew up in the Macedonia Baptist Church and was a long time member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Decatur. Lois was a very generous, loving person who enjoyed her family, reading and traveling. Surviving are brother, Eli R. (Ann) Sidwell, Jr. of Charleston, IL; sisters, Ursa Sidwell of Decatur, IL and Iris Sidwell of Charleston, IL; nieces, Melanie (Matthew) Edwards of Des Moines, IA and Jamie Sidwell of Naperville, IL; nephew, Eli R. Sidwell, III of Elgin, IL; great nieces, Eden Edwards and Abigail Sidwell; great nephews, Orin Edwards and Ian Edwards. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Carlos and Ivan Sidwell and sisters, Esther Riedlinger and Wilma Sidwell. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.
