Lois Christine "Chris" Dill Washburn's Obituary
Lois Christine (Chris) Washburn, age 74, of Bloomington, IL formerly of Champaign, IL and Martinsville, IL passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 with her family by her side at Carle Bromenn Medical Center, Normal, IL. She was born November 20, 1948 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Doris Eileen Dill. On June 19, 1966 she married Gerald Leon Washburn in Martinsville, IL.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Leon Washburn of Bloomington, IL; children, Troy Washburn (Christie) of Tolono, IL and Angela Murphy-Wonsowski (Kevin) of Bloomington, IL; siblings, Donnie Craig (Norma) of Martinsville, IL; Terry Craig (Phyllis) of Cedar Park, TX and Debra Haun (Don) of Louisville, IL; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Leah Dill and parents, Donald and Doris Craig.
Chris was a 1966 graduate of Martinsville High School. She retired after working for twenty-four years as a receptionist for Herff Jones Cap and Gown, Champaign, IL. Chris loved traveling and cruises. Trips to St. Thomas and Hawaii were two of her favorites. She enjoyed scrapbooking, collecting seashells from her many travels and any time she spent with her grandchildren. Chris and Leon were faithful members of First Wesleyan Church, Urbana, IL. She called her home in Ft Myers, FL her happy place.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastors Eric and Amber Coulter officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in Chris 's memory are requested to St. Jude Children 's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
