Leslie Raymond "Buzz" Mullen's Obituary
Leslie Raymond "Buzz" Mullen, 94, of rural Casey, Illinois passed away at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 30, 1915 in Casey, Illinois; the son of William Perry Mullen and Minnie Elizabeth Shafer Mullen. On March 20, 1942, he married Pauline Kampschrader in St. Charles, Missouri. Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Pauline Mullen of Casey, IL; son, Leslie E. "Butch" Mullen and wife Mary of Casey, IL; son: Gilbert L. Mullen and wife Amy of Casey, IL; daughter, Dorothy "Dot" Swick and companion LeRoy Staley of Casey, IL; brother, Ernest E. Mullen of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Laurie Yammine and husband Michael of Findley, OH; Eric Mullen and wife Valerie of Casey, IL; Lisa Tuttle and husband Danny of Casey, IL; Patrick W. Mullen and wife Amy of Casey, IL; Shawn A. Mullen of Edwardsville, IL; Michael D. Mullen of Casey, IL; Tammy Whitton of Casey, IL and Jackie Tuttle and husband Mark of Casey, IL; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His parents, sisters, Marie Cusick and Nora Daugherty; and son-in-law, Robert Dean Swick preceded him in death. Buzz was retired from the Casey Stone Quarry after forty-two years. He was a US Army WWII Veteran and a member of the Casey VFW. He was one of the oldest living Veterans in Clark County, IL. He was also a member of the Local 841 Operating Engineers Union in Terre Haute, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Brooke Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery, rural Casey, IL with Graveside Military Rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 on Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to Casey VFW Post 5762 Building Fund, 300 S. Central Ave., Casey, IL 62420.
