Lela J Robey's Obituary
Lela J. Robey, 79, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Heartland Manor. She was born September 10, 1928 in Casey, Illinois, the daughter of Leon M. Finney and Viola S. Southard Finney. On December 19, 1995 she married Dale L. Robey in Altamont, Illinois. Survivors include her husband, Dale Robey of Casey, Illinois; brother, Gene Finney and wife Mary of Casey, Illinois; brother, Paul Finney and wife Wilma of Bel Air, Maryland; daughter in law, Mary Brown of Malone, Florida; granddaughter, Sheri Brown of Malone, Florida; step grandson, Shawn Connelly of Louisiana; step granddaughter, Debbie Claxon of Mattoon, Illinois; step great grandchildren, Jaymey Claxon, Heather Claxon and Nicole McKerrow; step great great grandson, A.J. and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, son, Steven Ray Brown and sister, Wanda M. Burdett preceded her in death. Mrs. Robey was a 1946 graduate of Casey High School and received her bachelor and master degrees from Indiana State University. She taught in the Casey schools for 10 years. She also taught grade school and university classes in Wayne, NJ. She was a devote Christian and a member of the Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick, Illinois. Lela was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and had a great passion for golf. She possessed a wonderful giving spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday May 28, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois with Pastor Tom Suey officiating. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Christ Tabernacle Church, 10 N. Myers Ave., Herrick, IL 62431.
