Lawrence C "Bud" Lovell's Obituary
Lawrence Cletus "Bud" Lovell, 87, of Ashmore, IL passed away at 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born August 28, 1923 in Ashmore, IL, the son of George Washington Lovell and Lillie May Fitzpatrick Lovell. On December 25, 1943 he married Iva Maxine Smitley. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Maxine Lovell of Ashmore, IL; son, Gary Lovell and wife Kathy of Westfield, IL; grandson Kacey Lovell and wife Heather of Westfield, IL; granddaughters, Stephanie Cutright and husband Mike of Casey, IL and Stacy Mulicka and husband David of Ft. Myers, FL; great grandchildren, Hayden Lovell, Conner and Paige Cutright and Charlie Mulicka. He was preceded by parents and four sisters, Leona Bunch, Oyia Vansickle, Cathelene Updegraff and Ozeta Brown. Mr. Lovell was a farmer all his life. He was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, 50 year member of the Westfield Masonic Lodge 1046, he served 2 terms as Master and 7 years as Secretary and was a former member of Danville Scottish Rite-32nd degree. Bud was appointed trustee of the Westfield Fire Protection District and served as president for 25 years, served on the Clark Co. Extension Council and was chosen to serve on the Grass Roots Committee in forming Lakeland College. He was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church were he was a former Sunday School Superintendent and on the church board. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Dr. Andrew Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
