Kazuko Martin's Obituary
Kazuko Yamamoto Martin, age 89, of Savoy, IL formerly of Casey, IL passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 15, 2025. She was born August 9, 1935 in Heian'nan-do, Korea, the daughter of Tatsusaburo Yamamoto and Hisa Okamura Yamamoto.
On March 9, 1962 she married the love of her life, Cecil Harvey Martin in Yokohama, Japan; he passed away on September 18, 2017. Their marriage was a testament of how to navigate the good times and bad.
Survivors include her daughter, Regina (Tim) Leuck of Champaign, IL; son, Toby Martin of Alvin, TX; grandchildren, Kristen (Tanner) Typer, Jarrett Leuck, Casey Martin, Riley Martin, and Kelsey Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband.
Kazuko was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a trained seamstress, wonderful cook, avid gardener, and enjoyed crocheting. She fully supported her husband during his twenty-one years of service in the U.S. Navy which included many overseas deployments, most notably Vietnam. She was the ultimate caregiver, taking care of Cecil through his multiple battles with cancer.
Memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Funeral service and burial will be held at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA where she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Cecil.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
