Joyce Louise Hanners' Obituary
Joyce Louise (Shull) Hanners, 80, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:59 a.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born November 24, 1931 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Ralph Hobart Swearingen and Florence Opal Alexander Swearingen. On July 9, 1949, she married Erskine "Bud" Shull in Casey, IL. He passed away on September 19, 1988. She later married Deon Hanners on June 20, 1993 in Casey, IL. He passed away on January 27, 2007. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda (husband, Mike) Summerville, of Chatham, IL; her sons, Brent (wife, Donna) Shull of Casey, IL; Brian (wife, Tami) Shull of Effingham, IL; Rodney (wife, Dena) Shull of Casey, IL; Ivan (friend, Cheryl Wieland) Shull of Casey, IL; her daughter, Lisa (husband, Terry) Williams of Martinsville, IL; stepsons, John (Lou) Hanners of Commerce, TX and David (Sharon) Hanners of St. Paul, MN; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; her daughter, Amy Jo Shull in 1969 at the age of 3; brother, Robert Swearingen and sisters, Norma Chamberlain and Lois Staley. Joyce lived in Casey, IL and worked at Birchwood Nursing Home and Heartland Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Casey, IL and attended the Inspirational Hour on Wednesday mornings at the church. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening and quilting with her friends at the First Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her children would like to thank the Heartland Nursing staff for their constant loving care they gave to mom her last days. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL. Burial will be held at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to Heartland Nursing Center, 310 NW Third St., Casey, IL 62420 or the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 187, Casey, IL 62420.
