Josephine Carr Kaufman's Obituary
Josephine Carr Kaufman, 94, of Marshall, IL passed away at 7:46 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Home, Casey, IL. She was born November 19, 1919 in Anderson Township, Clark County, IL. She was born the third of nine children to David R. Walker and Catherine Serwise Walker. On November 12, 1937 she married Robert William Carr. Three children were born to this union: Rebecca Ann Rhoads, Linda Kay (Dan) Stephens and Mark Lee Carr. Robert preceded her in death on February 26, 1969. Josephine married Floyd Kaufman in April of 1974; he passed away on April 25, 1975. Survivors include her children; sisters, Alpha Morgan; Pearl (Irvin) Poynter and Esther (George) Mann; grandchildren, Ronald (Laurie), Rodney (Julia), Gary (Kathy) and Greg (Angie) Rhoads; Melinda, Jeremy (Tracy), Mark (Lauri) and Deke Haws and Jessie (Jalan) Dotson; fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Bernard Walker and sisters, Margaret (Alvy) Tharp, Opal (Everett) Royer, Anonia Franco and Rosa Wallace. Josephine was a devout Christian and through the years a member of the Casey, Marshall and Clarksville Baptist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star and active when she lived at Casey. She lived in Overland, Missouri during World War Two while her husband worked at McDonald Douglas for the war effort. She touched all she knew in special ways and was loved by many. Private family services will be held at the Markwell Funeral Home with burial in the Marshall Cemetery, Marshall, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Clarksville Baptist Church, 11864 E.
