Joseph Floyd Melton's Obituary
Joseph Floyd "Spivy" Melton, 82, of Charleston, IL formerly of Union Center, IL passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his residence. He was born on May 16, 1925 in Westfield, IL, the son of Joseph "Joe" Albert Melton and Lora Ulrey Melton. On February 27, 1945 he married Beulah Mae Perisho in Toledo, IL. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Beulah Melton of Charleston, IL; sister, Imogene Adams and husband Ronnie of Casey, IL; sisters in law, Virginia Morris of Arthur, IL; Doris Devall and husband Junior of Greenup, IL; Norma Keys and husband Paul of Shoals, IN; and Mary Breidenbaugh and husband Bill of Otwell, IN; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded by his parents, brother, Wayne Melton; sisters in law, Bernice Melton, Wanetia Watters and husband Harold Watters and Rosetta Perisho and husband Herb Perisho. Spivy was a farmer and raised cattle and hogs. He attended the Nebo First Separate Baptist Church, Union Twp., Cumberland County, IL. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, 700 Broadway Ave. East, Suite 9, Mattoon, IL 61938.
