We all know how much John was loved by everyone he came into contact with. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved animals and rescued strays and brought them home to Amanda. I’m not sure everyone understands just how much he and Amanda truly loved each other. They literally did everything together from grocery shopping on Saturday mornings, taking their dogs for a swim in the lake, going to Starbucks in the mornings, riding their motorcycle North to Osh Kosh for the air show, West to California through the 100 degree desert heat ( which I might add, this momma thought was stupid, but whatever) East to Virginia Beach and South to The Keys. Throughout all these trips, John always kept in contact with his Mom to let her know he was ok . That told me what a good man he was. Amanda did the same with me.
They were together since she was 15 and he always took care of her. When she had open heart surgery at Barnes two years ago , he stayed with her in her room 24/7 and would not leave her. He took such great care of her when she came home and throughout her recovery. When they weren’t at work, they were together, for the most part, all of the time.
Amanda, I know this is going to be so very difficult for you to learn to go on without him around but I know you , and I know you can do this because you are strong. He will be in your heart always but he would not want you to be sad , but would want you to be happy. He would want you to go on and live your life to the fullest. You have 25 little 2nd graders eager to meet Miss Craig and soak in all the knowledge you have to give them. You have 100’s of friends and family members standing by to help you through this awful period in your life. “You will not get over this , but you will get through this”, one day at a time and one step at a time. You have your sister, Jennifer, and me, to make sure you do! I loved John and I love you! Your Mom, Jan Sweeney
