John Way's Obituary
John Wilson Way, age 78, of Newton, died on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at his residence. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton with Fr. Barry Harmon officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service and burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie. Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton assisted with the arrangements. He was born March 4, 1927 in Willow Hill, the son of Wilson Lee and Ruby E. McCord Way. He married Pat Ping on July 14, 1945 in Ste. Marie; she survives. He worked as a school bus driver for 47 years and was a Shell Petroleum Distributor for 25 years. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton and past president of the Illini Ramblers Chapter #189 Camping Club. He was also an avid woodworker. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Pat Way of Newton, son Tony Way and wife Donna of Springfield, IL, grandchildren Jay Way and wife Cindy of Amory, MS and Tricia Decker and husband David of North Port, AL, great-grandchildren Taylor, TJ and Wes Decker and step-great grandson Jason Hood. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Carol Jean Way. Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Catholic Church.
