John H. Swope, 53, of Yale and Casey, IL passed away at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the home of his niece in Casey, IL surrounded by his family. He was born March 3, 1958 in Bellflower, CA, the son of John R. Swope and Mable Edda McMullen Swope. On December 16, 1996, he married Elaine Marie Miller in Branson, MI. Survivors include his wife, Elaine Swope of Yale, IL; son, Thomas Swope of Yale, IL; sisters, Carol Dooley and husband Joe of Yale, IL and Jan Watkins of Casey, IL; stepdaughters, Karen Miller and Kelly West and husband Chuck of Battle Creek, MI; granddaughter, Bailey Sue West; stepmother, Louella Swope of Waldron, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents. John previously worked for Midwest Foundry in Coldwater, MI as a machine operator. He also attended culinary school. John was an Eagle Scout with Silver Palms in Coldwater, MI and was a member of the Casey First Baptist Church, Casey, IL. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Casey First Baptist Church, Casey, IL with Rev. John Blaylock officiating.
