John Lee Cutright's Obituary
John Lee Cutright, 88, of Casey, IL passed away on Sunday morning, August 23, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Rick Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. John was born on March 14, 1921 in Union Center, IL, the son of John W. Cutright and Pearl Grace (Shaffer) Cutright. He married Mary Louise Plummer on November 7, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Mary Cutright of Casey, IL; one son, Jerry (wife Carole) of Casey, two daughters, Sandra Simpson and Sharon (husband John) Richardson both of Charleston; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Pridemoore of Mattoon; one brother, Larry Cutright of Greenup and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James Cutright, two sisters, Meriam Sanders and Allene Reynolds, one granddaughter, Susan Marie Cutright and one son-in-law, David Simpson. He was a member of Local Union 841 Operating Engineers until his retirement after forty years as a heavy equipment operator. He was also a member of the Casey VFW and First Christian Church in Casey. He proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He was an avid gardener, hunter, bird watcher and enjoyed being outdoors. He was also very proud of the many Purple Martins that he would attract to his home each spring and care for through the summer.
