John Robert Clapp, 80, of Westfield, Illinois passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL. He was born October 28, 1928 in Westfield, IL, the son of Marion Elisha Clapp and Hazel Menk Clapp. Survivors include his son, Jeffrey Clapp and wife Kenita of Arcola, IL; daughters, Juanita Alexander and friend Wayne Richey of Westfield, IL, Jeanie Henschel and husband Herb of Spearsville, LA, Jayne Goby and husband Tim of Newman, IL and Joann Deason of Macomb, IL; brothers, Steve Clapp and wife Amy of Casey, IL and Wendell Clapp of Westfield, IL; stepdaughter, Toni DeMoss and husband Lance of Bolingbrook, IL; stepson, Wayne Johnson of Chicago, IL; 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His parents, son, James Clapp, sisters, Barbara Clapp and Betty Cox, stepson, John Johnson and great granddaughter, Mikeala preceded him in death. Mr. Clapp was a US Navy veteran during WWII. He worked as a warehouse worker in Chicago, IL for many years. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Markwell Chapel in Westfield, IL with Rev. Gene Southard officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Westfield, IL with military rites by Westfield American Legion Post #609. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Markwell Chapel in Westfield, IL. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society 2509 S.
