John Arthur Burkhardt Sr's Obituary
John Arthur Burkhardt, Sr., 76, of Casey, IL passed away at 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born May 22, 1936 in Evanston, IL, the son of Paul Arthur Burkhardt and Edna M. Cown Burkhardt. In 1958, he married Doris L. Yoder; she passed away on June 29, 2000. Survivors include his companion and friend, Mary Ann McNeil of Casey, IL; daughter, Pam Herriott and husband Jim of Lafayette, CO; son, John E. Burkhardt and his mother, Catherine Burkhardt of Bloomington, IN; brother, George Burkhardt and wife Daisy of Martinsville, IL; sister, Marie Handley and husband Donald of Martinsville, IL; granddaughter, Hannah Herriott and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herman Burkhardt. Mr. Burkhardt was a partner in United Utilities Construction for over thirty years until it was purchased by Miller Pipeline. He was a heavy equipment owner and operator. John was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 841 and a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Lindsey Cemetery, north of Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N.
