Joe H. Hardway, 87, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Heartland Manor Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born February 3, 1921 in Clark County, Illinois, the son of Andrew Hardway and Opal Bennett Hardway. On October 31, 1942 he married Betty E. Hardway in St. Charles, MO. She passed away on January 26, 2003. Survivors include son, Joseph Richard Hardway and wife Linda of Petersburg, IL; son, Steven Ty Hardway of Lake St. Louis, MO; daughter, Julie Renae Hardway-Nickles and husband Keith of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren, Christina, Tricia, Joe A., Tyler and Paige Hardway and Kristen and Tanner Nickles; great grandchildren, Jonah Fried, Eliza Fried and Ava Hardway. His parents, wife and sister, Lucille Atkins preceded him in death. Joe owned and operated Hardway Oil Company from 1944 until his retirement and owned and operated H & G Spray Service from 1965 until his retirement. He was a US Navy World War II veteran. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Casey, Casey V.F.W., a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 515, Casey Lions Club, and Casey Country Club. He was past president of the Stanolind Credit Union and past president of the local Petroleum Union. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2008 with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Manor Nursing Center, P.O. Box 10, Casey, IL 62420.
