Jerry Raymond "Jake" Wilson's Obituary
Jerry Raymond "Jake" Wilson, 72, of Casey, IL passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born March 28, 1940 in Greenup, IL, the son of Raymond Frederick "Bob" Wilson and Rosalee (Slater) Wilson. Survivors include his sisters, Peggy Shonk, Linda Wilson and Priscilla Wilson, all of Casey, IL; brothers, Larry Wilson of Kellyton, AL, David Wilson of Charleston, IL and Scott Wilson of Casey, IL; 13 nieces and nephews; 16 great nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jeffery "Butch" Wilson. Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Casey High School. He was a US Navy veteran, serving 4 years (1959-1963) as Boilerman aboard the USS Antietam and USS Wasp. Following his military service he worked for the Robinson Pottery, owned his own dog supply business from 1979-1988, and retired in 2005 from Eastern Illinois University Food Services Department. Jake enjoyed living in the country. He liked to trap, fox and coon hunt. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. Memorial donations may be made to Honor Flight, Inc., 300 E. Auburn Ave., Springfield, OH 45505-4703. Memorial tributes may be shared with the family at www.markwellfuneralhome.com.
