Jerry Dean Middleton's Obituary
Jerry Dean Middleton, 74, of Yale, IL formerly Robinson, IL and Danville, IL entered the Kingdom of Heaven at 10:01 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born December 23, 1941 in Casey, IL, the son of Roy Dean Middleton and Alice Ann Brewer Middleton. On October 10, 1960 he married Sandra F. Tuttle in Shawneetown, IL. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sandy Middleton of Yale, IL; son, Cory (Cinnamon) Middleton of Danville, IL; brothers, Michael Wayne (Jane) Middleton of Manteno, IL and Karl "Nate" (Cindy) Middleton of Casey, IL and many brothers and sisters in law, nephews, nieces and "adopted" grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marsha Lynn (Middleton) Glidewell and sisters in law, Cozette (Fred) Campbell and Harriet (Carl) Tuttle. As a child Jerry attended schools in Hazel Dell, Altamont, Casey and Robinson, IL. He was a 1959 graduate of Robinson High School. Jerry served in the US Army from 1966-1968 as a Drill Sargent in Fairbanks, Alaska and continued to show great patriotism and pride to his country throughout his life. Jerry retired from the Hyster Corporation in Danville, IL in 1996 as a welder. He was a member of the ILTBU union. Jerry and Sandy moved to southern IL to enjoy retirement in Robinson, IL and later in Yale, IL. He served on the Village of Yale board while living there. Jerry was baptized at Bible Chapel Church in Robinson, IL. He and Sandy joined the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Yale, IL, where they both became active members of the church. Jerry became an elder and participated in an array of activities which included playing music with the Praise band, as well as working with the youth in a variety of ways including VBS and Sunday School. He also worked with the Prison ministries and volunteered with his wife Sandy at Master's Hands Food Pantry in Newton, IL and the Hope Food Pantry in Hidalgo, IL. Jerry's hobbies included hunting, fishing, singing and playing music with friends & family. He also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, studying his Bible and enjoying fellowship with his church family. Jerry was well liked and loved by all who knew him and was known as one of the best Huggers EVER!!! Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 20975 E 2100th Ave., Yale, IL with Pastor Chris Parr officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Cemetery, rural Yale, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW, Hazel Dell American Legion and the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Master's Hands Food Pantry, 104 N. Van Buren St., Newton, IL 62448.
