Jerry Dean Ellexson's Obituary
Jerry Dean Ellexson, age 73, of Casey, IL was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening October 12, 2024 at his home in Casey, IL. He was born March 24, 1951 in Terre Haute, IN, and came home to the family home on West Main Street in Casey. He was the son of Floyd Wilson Ellexson and Cleo G. (Hart) Ellexson. Jerry 's mother moved her young family to Arizona following the untimely death of her husband Floyd. On August 1, 1970 he married Jenny Peak in Prescott, Arizona.
Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Prescott High School in Prescott, Arizona. He enjoyed cowboying and rodeoing during his high school years as well as returning to Casey when he could. In 1975, he came home to Casey with his wife Jenny. He worked in the oilfields for his uncle Cash Matzenbacher at M & E Drilling and expanded to other oilfield endeavors until 1990. At that time he joined Martinsville Ready Mix which began his career in the Ready-Mix industry. In 2005, his career took him across the country from the east coast to the southwest as well as Haiti and South Africa. In 2001, he achieved his life-long dream of receiving his pilot 's license.
Jerry was baptized at the Casey United Methodist Church in 1951 and returned to his home church in 2015. He was very active in the church and believed in miracles since he saw so many during his final battle with cancer.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jenny; two sons, Levi Ellexson (Andrea) of Plainfield, Illinois and Chris Ellexson (Ashley) of Plainfield, Indiana. Four grandchildren, Shea Ellexson, Caleb Ellexson, Bryceton Wilbur and Camden Ellexson. Brother, Randy Ellexson of Phoenix, Arizona and sister, C. Sue Sullins (Steve) of Dallas, Texas and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Casey United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeremy Harminson officiating. Burial will follow in Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Casey United Methodist Church, 703 N. State Hwy 49, Casey, IL.
