Jean Wendling's Obituary
Jean Wendling, age 75, of Altamont, died on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the Friendship Manor Nursing Home in St. Elmo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2005 at the Immanual Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont with Rev. Mitchell E. Schuessler officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at the Kull Funeral Chapel in Altamont. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Altamont. She was born June 16, 1930 in Paris, the daughter of Clifford and Neoma Ault Callahan. She married William Louis Wendling on June 8, 1958 at the Immanual Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altamont; he survives. She was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of the church choir. She held memberships in the Altamont Garden Club, Effingham County Home Extension and the Wheelman International Bicycle Club. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in both Home Economics and Elementary Education. She was employed by the Altamont School District as a home economics teacher for a number of years and later did subsitute teaching for numerous area schools. Surviving are her husband William Wendling of Altamont, son Daniel Wendling of Hyattsville, MD, daughers Ellen Walk and husband Alan of Altamont and Paula Drieci and husband Phil of Marshfield, MO, grandsons Alex and Devin Walk of Altamont, sister Ellen Ruth Rowland and husband Paul of Westland, MI, sister-in-law Marilyn Callahan of Sun City West, AZ, and several nieces and nephews.
