Janice Lorene Hawkins' Obituary
Janice Lorene (Biggs) Hawkins, 74, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. She was born October 18, 1940 in Westfield, IL the daughter of Roscoe Lee Biggs and Emma B. Lashbrook Biggs. On June 21, 1959 she married Edward Thomas Pinnell; he passed away on July 10, 1963. Survivors include sons, Edward Thomas Pinnell, Jr. and wife Marcy of Edwardsville, IL; Clint Hawkins and wife Ranada of Casey, IL; daughters, Ann Crites and husband Phillip of Casey, IL; Carol Hawkins-Savage and husband Chris of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Aaron Crites and fiancé Annie O'Leary, Andrew Crites, Edward Thomas "Tom" Pinnell III and wife Lisa, Paige Pinnell, Sadie Pinnell, Chloe Hawkins and Connor Hawkins and great grandson, Edward Thomas "Theo" Pinnell IV. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Dale Biggs, Lee Biggs, Doit Biggs; sister, Leola Richards and the father of Carol and Clint, Ronald E. Hawkins on April 4, 2011. Janice was a graduate and valedictorian of Westfield High School Class of 1958. She previously worked as a secretary for the Academic Affairs Department at Eastern Illinois University and as a manager at Richards Farm Restaurant. Janice was a member of the Westfield United Methodist Church where she served as the church organist for many years. Her love of music fed her soul and all who were around her. Some of Janice's favorite memories were of her travel days, especially "walking where Jesus walked" in Jerusalem. She passed her love of traveling on to her children. Janice enjoyed the beauty of nature, especially quiet days on the lake along with sunny days waterskiing. She loved spending time bowling with her cherished friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Westfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Westfield United Methodist Church, 225 South Madison Street, Westfield, IL.
