Jane was an iconic image in our small town. Even her first name - Jane - took on a different meaning; it became something strong and loaded with substance. To those of us who knew and loved her - she was just Jane. And that name embodied all she was: independent, non-judgmental, objective, open to others, interesting and interested. She loved the spring flowers; bluebells, tulips, dogwoods and she had the most beautiful redwood outside her kitchen window. He house was home to many - her family, her family's friends, her children, her children's friends. Her refrigerator was always stocked and her door always open. Her kitchen table was the site of countless discussions over the years, the world's problems were solved there may times. Jane provided a forum for debate, good times, companionship and camaraderie. Jane was philosophical, sharing what were fondly called "Jane-isms" by those who paid attention. "You have to laugh a little in this life," she would say, which made those around her conclude, "If there is this life, then there must be a next life." Jane was aware of this life and lived it well. Jane enjoyed tennis, trap shooting and golf. Many Casey residents will remember the miles she walked each day, rain or shine. Over her lifetime she walked more than 10,000 miles, making her trek through the farmlands. She walked alone and she walked with friends, often taking time for coffee and cookies after a walk! Jane was a graduate of Casey High School and Chrysler Beauty School of Cosmetology in Effingham, IL.
