James L "Jim" Simpson's Obituary
James L. "Jim" Simpson, 79, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, Illinois. He was born April 1, 1929 in Casey, Illinois, the son of Raymond Simpson and Lulu Fern Deverick Simpson. On September 23, 1950 he married Iline Kibler in Yale, Illinois. Survivors include his wife, Iline Simpson of Casey, Illinois; son, Steve Simpson and wife Bobbi of Morton, Illinois; son, Scott Simpson and wife Linda of Yale, Illinois; daughter, Shelley Baltz and husband Tim of Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren, Cori Sander and husband Nate of Memphis, Tennessee; Leslie Smith and husband Shane of East Peoria, Illinois; Daniel and Moriah Baltz of Aurora, Illinois and Katie and Lane Simpson of Yale, Illinois; great grandchildren, Garrett and Annie Sander; brother, Jack Simpson of Casey, Illinois and sisters, Rose Walters and husband Charles of Ashmore, Illinois; Donna Lovell and husband Don of Casey, Illinois; brother, Ed Simpson and wife Judy of Ellenton, Florida; sisters, Judy Gowin and husband Archie of Casey, Illinois and Kathie Hicks and husband Lewis of Casey, Illinois. His parents preceded him in death. Jim was a retired farmer and worked for over eighteen years as a drilling supervisor for M&E Drilling Company of Casey, Illinois. He previously worked for Eastern Illinois University for over ten years in grounds department and a mechanic for the John Deere dealership in Casey, Illinois. Jim was a member of the Moriah Church of God. He was a US Army Korean War veteran, a member of the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. He received the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge and United Nations Service Medal. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois with Rev. Jeff Lakins and Rev. Tim Baltz officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Cemetery, south of Casey, Illinois with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Moriah Church of God Building Fund, 4890 N. 370th St., Casey, IL 62420.
