He was born October 14, 1962 in Olney, the son of John Oscar and Carolyn Marie Woodard Rich. He married Amy J. Hickox on February 25, 1983; she survives. He was a Union Operator for Javelina Construction and was formerly an independent contractor in the Casey area as well a as a Frito-Lay salesman and a truck driver for Hickox Trucking. He was a member of the Walnut Chapel Church of Christ and the Midwest Operating Engineers. He was a 1980 graduate of Newton High School. Jim was a man who loved his Lord and his family and he worked hard to be a good husband and father. He married the love of his life and did all he could to provide a loving home for her and their children. He was a man who had a passion for life that extended into everything he did. He loved attending the many athletic events his children participated in and on any given Friday night during the fall, he could be found on the sidelines as a member of the 'Chain Gang'. He loved to hunt and fish with his "boys" which often extended to the friends his sons spent time with. Jim was also learning the fine art of dance competitions, though his daughter was really the only one who caught his eye. Jim loved the time he spent coaching throughout the years and every child he had the opportunity to coach left a lasting impression on him. He often expressed what a positive impact the kids had on him and said that he hoped he made that same impact on them. For all those who knew him, his quick wit will be something they will cherish. Jim had the uncanny ability to make people smile, no matter the situation. Surviving are his wife, Amy Rich of Casey, children Spc. Scott J. Rich of Fort Carson, Co, Pvt. Joshua D. Rich, Brittany N.
