James D Madlem's Obituary
James D. Madlem, 93, of Casey, IL passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Simple Blessings in Casey, IL. He was born on June 9, 1920 in Greenup, IL, the son of William Thomas Madlem and Flora Rosetta Glosser Madlem. On December 31, 1941, he married Pauline Ruley in St. Charles, MO. She passed away on May 19, 1997. Survivors include his son, David Madlem of Casey, IL; daughter, Janice Clement and husband Fred of Martinsville, IL; brother, Byrd Madlem and wife Dorothy of Charleston, IL; grandchildren, Jim Clement of Martinsville, IL; Cindy Maxey and husband Don of Martinsville, IL; Becky Clement of Martinsville, IL; Doug Clement and wife Becky of Martinsville, IL; Shane Pierson and wife Cortney of Olathe, KS; Travis Pierson and wife Joelle of Olathe, KS and Troy Pierson and wife Deborah of Mt. Home, ID; fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, wife, daughter, Linda Sue (Madlem) Pierson; brothers, William Thomas Madlem, Acel Madlem and Ralph Madlem and sisters, Naomia Farrell, Wilma Madlem, Una Matteson, Letha Sandiford, Molly Shepard, Violet Simpson and Emma Ryan. Mr. Madlem was a self-employed farmer and trucker in the Casey, IL area for his entire life. He was a US Army WWII veteran; a lifetime member of the Casey VFW and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association. Funeral services will be held from 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial donations may be made to the Donor's Choice.
