James C Curtis' Obituary
James C. Curtis, 59, of Casey, IL passed away at 12:34 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL. He was born December 6, 1950 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Carl Curtis and Stella Jeanette Keeling Curtis. On August 12, 1973, he married Vicki Diane Birchfield in Casey, IL. Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years, Vicki Curtis of Casey, IL; son, David Carl Curtis of Casey, IL; daughter, Michelle Stivers and husband Jimmy of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter, Betty Jean Sewell and husband James of Martinsville, IL; sisters, Jeanie Ingram and husband Gary of Mattoon, IL; Linda Layton and husband Chris of Martinsville, IN; Janet Lawhorn and husband Larry of Jewett, IL; and Beverly Reisner and husband Bruce of Gila, IL; mother in law, Betty Coleman Birchfield of Casey, IL and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Curtis. Mr. Curtis retired in 1992 as a Sergeant in the US Army, after serving in both of the Vietnam and Desert Storm wars. He was a member of the Plum Grove Church and the Casey VFW. He was employed as a Building Service Worker at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 with Rev. Marvin Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion.
