Jack Connelly's Obituary
Jack Connelly, age 80, passed away on Friday evening, July 19, 2019 at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. Jack was diagnosed with Parkinson"™s disease in 2004 and the Lord decided he deserved a rest. Jack was born November 16, 1938 in Martinsville, IL. His mother passed away when Jack was a young boy and he was raised by his grandparents, Sylvan and Florence Connelly and many aunts and uncles. On May 24, 1980 he married Pamela Foster Connelly in Casey, IL. Jack loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Casey First Baptist Church. In 1955 Jack joined the US Navy and learned his trade of pipefitting and welding; he was discharged in 1960. Jack worked construction in the Chicago, IL area for 14 years. He moved his children to Martinsville, IL in 1974 to grow up on a farm and in a small community. Jack was an amateur radio operator and enjoyed woodworking. He made many pieces of furniture and constructed three wood splitters. Jack and Pam moved back to Casey from Lafayette, IN where they had worked for 12 years. Jack set up a woodworking shop in his garage. They lived on their son-in-law"™s farm for 13 years where Jack grew a big garden. Jack never met a stranger and loved life, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed amateur radio, fishing, woodworking and his big garden. He retired in 1999 from Plumber and Steamfitters Local 157, Terre Haute, IN and was honored with his 50-year pin in 2014. Jack is survived by his loving wife of almost 40 years, Pam Connelly of Casey, IL; children, Kyle Connelly (Kris) of Fairport, NY; Jill Richardson (Jay) of Yorkville, IL and Kelly May (Mike) of Yorkville, IL; stepchildren, Julie Littlejohn of Casey, IL and Jeff Sherwood of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Brandon Connelly and Megan Michaljevia of Fairpoint, NY; Blake Martin (Natalie) of Channahon, IL; Nico Soave of Shorewood, IL; Angelo Soave, Plainfield, IL; Jordan Richardson, Redmon, OR; Jaden Richardson, Jenna Richardson, Juleah Richardson and Jinnaea Richardson of Yorkville, IL, Kourtney Brown (Joe Batok) of San Diego, CA; Kody Brown of Midland, TX; Josh Sherwood (Abbey) of Sullivan, IL; Ian Littlejohn (Bethany) of Casey, IL and Hannah Littlejohn of Casey, IL; great grandchildren, Amelia Martin of Channahon, IL; Harper and Graham Littlejohn of Casey, IL and Kassidy Sherwood of Sullivan, IL; brothers, Dick Roberts (Linda) of Morris, IL; Dale Roberts (Sandy) of Marshall, IL; Joe Roberts (Andrea) of Marshall, IL and Donald Roberts (Brenda) of Sherman, TX; sisters, Vivian Johnson of Charleston, IL and Betty Payne (Harry) of Paris, IL; uncle, Fred Bright of Casey, IL and his best friend since childhood, Joe Cribelar of Martinsville, IL. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorthfreda Roberts; his grandparents, daughter, Julie Soave; sons in law, John Britt and Scott Littlejohn and his beloved dog Sadie. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Casey First Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Marsh officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at Casey First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama, St., Casey, IL.
