Iwana May Runkel's Obituary
Iwana May Runkel, 85, of Arthur, Illinois formerly of Phoenix, Arizona passed away at 6:09 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at The Arthur Home in Arthur, Illinois. She was born March 2, 1924 in Norphlet, Arkansas, the daughter of Ernest and Flossie May Elliott Bartholomew. On November 23, 1944 she married Franklin Burnell Runkel in Casey, Illinois. He passed away on October 30, 2008. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1951. Survivors include her brother, Ernest Bartholomew and wife Beth of Arthur, Illinois; sister-in-law, Geraldine Goodwin of Arcola, Illinois; nephews, David Bartholomew, Mark Bartholomew, Harold Runkel and Charles Runkel; nieces, Margaret Beck, Linda Bell and Edna Mae Clemons; special cousins, Ann and Christy Comer of Phoenix, AZ and several great nieces and nephews. Her parents and husband preceded her in death. Mrs. Runkel retired as an officer at the Valley National Bank in 1986 after being employed there for 35 years. She grew up in Casey, Illinois and was a 1942 graduate of Casey High School. Frank and Iwana moved to Arthur, Illinois in 2002. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, Illinois with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
