Ira McDonald's Obituary
Ira David McDonald, age 71, of Arthur, died on Thursday,July 14 in Douglas County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005 at the funeral home. He was born September 24, 1933 in Franklin, PA, the son of Oscar and Mabel Sanford McDonald. He married Rosemary Sandusky in 1951 and he later married Doris Yoder in 2003; she survives. He was a welding shop operator and a member of the Arthur Methodist Church, Lions Club and Rebecca Merietta Lodge #337 in Arthur. Surviving are his wife, Doris McDonald, sons David McDonald, Jr. of Ashmore, Charles McDonald of Mattoon, step-son Merlin Yoder of Ozark, MO., daughters Linda Scales and Nancy Rieman of Greenup, step-daughter Sherry Plank of Arthur, brothers Carl McDonald of Danville and Oscar McDonald, Jr. of Mattoon, sisters Lucille Pierce of Greenup, Dorothy Moore of Gibson, GA, Peggy Hines of Lena, LA, Mary Walker of Hickory Valley, TN and Rebecca Armstrong of Cleveland, OH, 12 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
