Howard Eugene "Gene" Welch's Obituary
Howard Eugene "Gene" Welch, 66, of rural Casey, IL passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at his home. He was born July 13, 1942 in Picher, Oklahoma, the son of Howard Grant Welch and Lillie Mae Knight Welch. He married Beverly Sue Miller in Hanford, CA on January 9, 1965; she passed away on December 8, 1996. He later married Wanda Lee Loftis Brown on January 8, 2005 in Stoy, IL. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lee Welch of Casey, IL; son, Larry Eugene Welch and wife Melanie of Livingston, CA; grandson, Larry Eugene Welch, Jr. of Livingston, CA; ; stepson, Steven Wayne Brown of Casey, IL; stepdaughter, Charlene Kaye Keller of Casey, IL; brother, Dennis Wayne Welch and wife Kathy of Wyandotte, OK; sister, Betty June Wright and husband Ray of Middleton, ID; sister, Shirley Joan Pace and husband Fred of Wyandotte, OK; sister, Mary Frances Loftis of Bryan, TX and many nieces and nephews. His parents and wife, Beverly preceded him in death. Gene was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the Moriah Church of God. He was a retired Inspection Technician for C.F.I. Trucking Co. of Joplin, MO. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Gary Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in the Restitution Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial donations and contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4603 W. Deyoung St., Marion, IL 62959 or the American Heart Association, Memorial Lockbox, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
