Homer Lee "Sam" Leohr's Obituary
Homer Lee "Sam" Leohr, 75, of Yale, Illinois passed away at 6:18 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at his home. He was born November 29, 1936 in Casey, Illinois, the son of Loyd Emery Leohr and Mildred Conova Huddleston Leohr. On May 2, 1959, he married Mary Ann Biehl in West Salem, Illinois. She passed away on February 13, 2009. Survivors include son, Roger Leohr and wife Theresa of Newton, Illinois; daughter, Janet Benefiel and husband Kent of Newton, Illinois; daughter, Leslie Fear and husband Chris of Fayetteville, Georgia; brother, Paul "Bus" Leohr of Casey, Illinois; sister, Opal Darling of Greenup, Illinois; sister, Betty Griffin and husband John of Casey, Illinois; grandchildren, Brittany Balch and Tyler Balch of Newton, Illinois; Josh Benefiel and wife Whitney of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Steven Benefiel and wife Emily of Newton, Illinois; Michael Benefiel of Chicago, Illinois and Presley Fear of Fayetteville, Georgia and great grandchildren, Henry Will and Ava Benefiel. His parents, wife and brother, Allen "Jack" Leohr preceded him in death. Sam was a 1954 graduate of Casey High School. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Oblong Christian Church in Oblong, Illinois. He was the owner of Leohr Oil Company in Yale, Illinois for over 50 years. He was a partner in HL&M Trucking, Yale Spray Service and H&H Propane. Sam served on the Village of Yale board for over 50 years and was a Yale Fire Department volunteer. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hollensbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Yale Cemetery, Yale, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, Illinois.
