Henry L. Brotherton, Jr., 82, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home, Mattoon, IL. He was born February 20, 1930 in Robinson, IL, the son of Henry L. Brotherton, Sr. and Emily Utterback Brotherton. On January 10, 1953, he married Mary Ruth Smith in Robinson, IL. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Ruth Brotherton of Mattoon, IL; son, Terry Brotherton and wife Rhonda of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Debbie Hardy and husband Matt of Las Vegas, NV; Christina Brotherton of Tucson, AZ and Joey Brotherton Ray of Panama City, FL; step-grandsons Brandon Salesberry and wife Christina of Chicago, IL, Patrick Salesberry and wife Mandy of Morton, IL; ten great grandchildren; nieces, Tammy Krouse and husband Jim of Albion, IL; Connie and Deanna; nephews, Gregg Baker and wife Crystal and family of Oakland, IL; Hank Evelin; Dennis Milam Bensie of Seattle, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters, and a son, Larry Joe Brotherton. Henry was retired after thirty-eight years from Briggs Manufacturing as a Kiln foreman. He was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Robinson American Legion. Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the New Robinson Cemetery, Robinson, IL with Dr. John Calio and Rev. Dan Smith officiating.
